Leo Outdoor Wall Fountain
Fountains particularly made of concrete and cast stone are very susceptible to damage and cracking during winter months. Water should not be left to be frozen in the fountain which will damage the pump. Precautionary measures should be determined prior to this season.

It is highly advised to disassemble your fountain if possible before the winter starts and store it in a safe place such in your garage or shed. In case that disassembling it is unlikely, you should drain the fountain’s water thoroughly. The pump should be removed for safekeeping. If it is submersible, it can be placed in a bucket filled with water in a warm indoor area so that the seals and gaskets do not dry out. It is also the best time to clean your pump very well to remove unnecessary debris and algae that had accumulated over time in your outdoor water fountain.

A water fountain cover will be beneficial to keep the moisture from accumulating. Then fill the basin with an absorbent material such as burlap or blankets to absorb any condensation that can accumulate and freeze during the winter. It is a must that all parts of the fountain that can be detached should be removed and stored in a safe place. Lastly, the basin should be turned upside down if you do not want to transport it from one place to another.

These tips are necessary to extend the life of your beautiful fountain. Considering that different fountains may require different safekeeping procedures during winter, it is best to consult the manual or if not call the manufacturer for details.
