Solar Water Fountains
Meadow Outdoor Fountain
Solar fountains just like all other fountains can be an elegant centerpiece for your home or garden. The only difference is that, it is powered by energy from the sun, which is completely free. It has a solar panel, a packaged interconnected assembly of photovoltaic cells, also known as solar cells which is responsible in converting light into electric current. The electricity produced cause the water to flow. If an object blocks the sunlight, the water will slow down or temporarily stop.

The solar panels might be directly attached to the body of the outdoor water fountain. However, this is not good during icy or snowy weather and it is sunny outside because the pump will probably be damaged. During this condition, the solar panel is disconnected. Otherwise, you may leave it on winter days when it is sunny outside and no danger of a freeze.

If the panels are standalone, you may position it where it can get optimum sunlight. While the fountain can be placed in your desired location since the panels are not attached to it.

In order for the water fountain to work at night, you may install a battery. But most solar fountains do not have one so it is usually running during the day.

Another good thing for having a solar fountain is that, it lacks distracting wires, making them an even more harmonious addition to any patio or garden. You will no longer have problems installing the wires and most especially it will not add up to your monthly bill.

Solar fountains are available in various styles. Others are meant to float in ponds or pools. It is even possible to have a solar fountain which doubles as a bird bath or lantern.
